A shout-out to my friend and fellow ex-SCDS-Trustee, Ted Elliott, who has some nicely produced video on his TR Elliott winery Web site.
My one recommendation to Ted is to upload his video to YouTube. The exposure can't hurt, and Google (slightly) favors its own Web properties (i.e. YouTube) in search results.
A minor quibble: many people are annoyed by videos that start playing automatically. It's probably better to have the video paused and display a "play" icon, like this:
Embedded video is now common enough that people know what do to do when they see that icon (go ahead - it's a five-second video).
I also wanted to mention The Winery Channel, which is promoting a number of wineries on its "Fine Wineries" channel:
- Antica Terra
- B Cellars
- Denner Vineyards
- Duckhorn Vineyards
- Justin Vineyards & Winery
- Paraduxx
- St. Clement Vineyards
- Twomey Cellars
- Vincent Arroyo Winery
( Thanks to the Mutineer Magazine blog for reminding me to write about The Winery Channel, and an excuse to feature The Dramatic Hamster.)
UPDATE: CNET has a great review of HD Web video sites (most of which are free).
Hamster...FTW!!!
