Some interesting discussion on my post about "The Rockaway Experiment," thanks to a comment from Steve Heimoff, West Coast Editor for Wine Enthusiast.
My favorite so far is the comment from Lenn of Lenndevours.

Well, I'll be surprised if Steve doesn't also write an interesting article about this wine - as he should, because it IS interesting! And that will also amount to free publicity for RS. And that's how it should be.
I don't think bloggers were manipulated at all, but the fact that the wine was thrown over the wall with a "please review" and no engagement or conversation may have led to that perception with some observers.
If you look at how Stormhoek did their first samplings, the whole process was an open conversation - from the initial offer all the way through the tastings and reviews. That's the real power of this medium.
(I've posted some additional thoughts on this "backstory" over on goodgrape.com, for what it is worth.)
