The graph above shows my blog traffic for the past 14 days. It's not very impressive if you look at the absolute numbers (I get tens of visitors each day, not hundreds or thousands), but it does show what happens when your blog comments on and is linked to as part of an interesting story (in this case, the Rockaway experiment and subsequent discussion).
Even though I benefit when my blog traffic spikes (because I end up with more regular visitors after each spike), it always seems to happen that, when a discussion takes off, it ends up generating hurt feelings. It's a bad thing when respected members of the community stop participating as a result, and it makes me sad. The wine blogging community shouldn't be like that.

Somehow, this seems like yet even more proof that everyone else stole the traffic that I should have been getting by reviewing the wine... ;-)
