Tom Wark over at FERMENTATIONS has a post with a link to a pretty good answer.
According to the Napa County Department of Agriculture 2000 Crop Report, in the fall of 2000 there were a total of 40,016 acres (28,242 red, and 11,774 white) actually planted to winegrapes. These grapes were planted on vineyards ranging in size from a fraction of an acre up to hundreds of acres.
I won't give it away, but the largest single individual holder owns over 2,000 acres, or about 5% of the planted acreage in the Napa Valley. Teaser: their Web site requires Macromedia Flash to view it, and yes, they're in The Winery Web Site Report database).
