Where Are the Winery Blogs?

Tom Wark, of Wark Communications in Glen Ellen,  asks "Where are the winery blogs?"

This is a great question, since The Winery Web Site Report includes "RSS feed and/or Web log" as one of its 25 rating elements (although, to be fair,  it doesn't carry the same weight as your site navigation does).

In short order, I should be able to answer Tom's question definitively -- our database of over 2,400 site evaluations is nearly complete.  But it's almost certainly a number less than 24 (1% of all sites). Last January, Tom asked whether he'd found the perfect winery Web site, just after I'd started work on The Winery Web Site Report.  At some point in the not-too-far-future, I'll answer that question too.

Welcome to The Winery Web Site Report blog

One of the principles I've tried to espouse in creating The Winery Web Site Report is that we should try to model desired behavior.  In other words, since we recommend that wineries add the personal voice of a Web log (blog) to their Web site, we should have one on our site.

So here it is.  Welcome, and please join the conversation, which is an important part of the value of a blog for a small, customer-focused business like a winery (or a publisher).

Another small point: it's good to start blogging before you have an audience.  That way, even the very first visitor to your blog has more than one post to look at (and be hooked by).
